The Villarreal B defender visited the Castellón-based centre to answer questions from its users
Antonio Espigares is a promising and talented central defender, known for his impressive physical attributes and, above all, his big heart. He shows it on the pitch by defending his team with commitment and passion. And he proves it off the pitch too—most recently by sharing his more human side with the members of Down Castellón, the association with which the Yellow Submarine’s B team is enjoying its second consecutive season as part of the Endavant Igualtat initiative.
With the end-of-season celebration for this special community initiative already held—bringing together 450 attendees at the Congress, Trade Fair and Meeting Centre in Vila-real—the Villarreal B defender was eager to enjoy one final intimate and meaningful moment with his ‘teammates’ from Down Castellón. To that end, he visited the centre, located on Avenida Alcora in Castellón, where he took part in a personal interview. During the session, the Granada-born player opened up about his most personal side, answering questions about his sporting dreams, family, friendships, and life beyond football.
The end-of-season celebration for this special community initiative had already taken place, bringing together 450 attendees at the Centre of Congress, Trade Fairs and Meetings (Centro de Congresos, Ferias y Encuentros) in Vila-real. Even so, the Villarreal B defender wanted to enjoy one last warm and personal moment with his ‘team-mates’ from Down Castellón. He visited the centre, located on Avenida Alcora in Castellón, where he took part in a personal interview. During the session, the Granada-born player opened up about his dreams in football, his family, friendships, and life beyond the game.

“It’s a journalism workshop where the members of Down Castellón prepare a set of questions to get to know us better. I volunteered to come because it’s such a welcoming place and, by giving just a little bit of your time, you can really brighten their day,” said Espigares after the special experience. The visit ended with a fantastic poem by Sara, a member of Down Castellón, cat lover and devoted fan of the Mini Submarine’s No.4.
“It was a really lovely moment. It’s always a joy to come here. They welcome me with so much enthusiasm and we have a great time together,” said the Villarreal B defender. With a hug for each member and a group photo, Espigares said goodbye to his friends at Down Castellón. See you next year!
