The Yellows lose at Ipurua despite dominating large spells of the clash

Villarreal B lost 2-0 to Eibar at Ipurua with goals from Rahmani and Aketxe, despite being the better side for long spells of the game.

Forés quickly tried to spring a surprise with a powerful low shot that Luca Zidane turned behind for a corner. Eibar responded in kind, but Gianni had no trouble ink eeping the ball out. The Mini Submarine continued to press forward and had two more clear-cut chances in the opening 20 minutes, with Carlo’s shot from the edge of the area going narrowly wide.

The Yellows were very comfortable on the pitch at Ipurua and created more danger than their opponents, with Forés very active up front. However, it was Eibar who struck first. On the half-hour mark, Rahmani unleashed a missile that Gianni could not keep out. With this scoreline, the game reached the half-time break.

Miguel Álvarez made a triple change for the start of the second half, introducing Mbacke, Fer Niño and Diego Collado. The substitutions quickly took effect as Fer Niño almost connected with two balls inside the box in the opening moments of the second half.

Combinations close to the box, good work and an attempt to level the scores were the order of the day, but the Yellows were unable to find the net. However, Eibar increased the deficit with a goal very similar to the one in the first half, this time from Aketxe, to put the game to bed.

Next up for Villarreal B is a home game against Deportivo Alavés on Monday 6th March.
