Six young Villareal players have made the cut and sit among the best 55 young players in Spain
The young Yellows continue to reap recognition. The Technical Committee of the ‘Futbol Draft’, led by ex-national team Manager Iñaki Sáez and also formed by Celades (Spain U21 Manager), Luis de la Fuente (Spain U19 Manager), Santi Denia (Spain U17 Manager) and Pedro López (Spain Ladies U19 Manager), among others, has confirmed the list of 55 candidates to make up the Gold, Silver and Bronze elevens of the best young Spanish footballers. We remind you of some of those players that have already achieved this recognition, such as Moi Gómez (Silver eleven, 2014 and 2015), Samu Castillejo (Gold eleven with Málaga in 2015) and Denis Suárez (Bronze eleven with Barcelona in 2014 and Gold eleven with Sevilla in 2015).
Three of the players nominated currently play for the Submarine. Specifically, one First Team player and two Villareal B team players: Rodrigo Hernández, Pau Francisco Torres and Mario González, respectively. These players are eligible for the following categories:
- Best Left Centre Back: Pau Francisco Torres (1997, Villarreal B).
- Best Left Centre Midfielder: Rodrigo Hernández Cascante (1996, First Team).
- Best Centre Forward: Mario González Gutiérrez (1996, Villarreal B).
Three young players who also made the cut are currently on loan
In addition to those already mentioned, the three other footballers nominated belong to Villarreal, but are currently playing on loan at other teams. This is the case of Adrián Marín, Nahuel Leiva and Alfonso Pedraza, two of those playing in the First Division and one in the Second Division. These players are eligible for the following categories:
- Best Left Back: Adrián Marín Gómez (1997, on loan at CD Leganés).
- Best Left Midfielder: Alfonso Pedraza Sag (1996, on loan at CD Lugo).
- Best Right Midfielder: Matías Nahuel Leiva Esquivel (1996, on loan at Real Betis).
