Spain fall to Portugal on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time
Yeremy Pino and Álex Baena featured in the UEFA Nations League final between Spain and Portugal, which ended 2-2. The two Villarreal CF players came on during extra time and impressed for La Roja. Baena, from Roquetas de Mar, even converted one of the penalties, but the Portuguese side emerged victorious in the shootout.
Elsewhere, Juan Foyth played a few minutes for Argentina in their 1-0 win over Chile and will face Colombia this Wednesday as the Albiceleste look to edge closer to World Cup qualification.
Nicolas Pépé suffered a defeat in a friendly with Ivory Coast against New Zealand (1-0) and will face Canada next. Meanwhile, Pape Gueye did not feature in Senegal’s draw with Ireland (1-1) but could be involved in their next friendly against England.
Tajon Buchanan starred in Canada’s 4-2 win over Ukraine, providing a stunning assist for Jonathan David and sealing the match with a well-taken goal in the 81st minute. His next match is set for Wednesday—against his Villarreal team-mate Nicolas Pépé.
Thierno Barry remains in camp with the France U21 squad as they prepare for the UEFA European U21 Championship.
