

Villarreal’s intellectually-disabled team (EDI) beat Nàstic (1-3) and Córdoba (3-1), but fall to Atleti (1-3)
Villarreal’s intellectually-disabled team (EDI) had a successful and exciting time in Córdoba, where the second of the sixth LaLiga Genuine stages this season took place.
The Yellows side had a spectacular start to the competition, winning their two matches on Saturday, against Nàstic Tarragona (1-3) and against home side Córdoba CF 3-1. On Sunday, they had less luck, losing to Atlético Madrid 1-3.
This weekend, the Yellows were able to enjoy themselves on the Nuevo Arcángel pitch in Córdoba in the world’s most socially responsible, integrative and pioneering competition. An event that tries to bring together everyone with intellectual disabilities in the football world. The Yellows’ EDI will take part in the next LaLiga Genuine competition next month in A Coruña (1st to 3rd February). The other stages take place in Vallecas (5th to 7th April), Madrid (26th to 28th April) and Valencia (14th to 16th June).
As well as Villarreal CF, LaLiga Genuine sees the following teams take part this season: Deportivo Alavés, Albacete Balompié, UD Almería, Athletic Club, Atlético Madrid, RC Celta Vigo, Córdoba CF, RC Deportivo La Coruña, SD Eibar, RCD Espanyol, Girona FC, SD Huesca, UD Las Palmas, CD Leganés, UD Levante, CD Lugo, Málaga CF, RCD Mallorca, Club Gimnàstic Tarragona, Club Atlético Osasuna, Real Oviedo, Real Sociedad, Rayo Vallecano, Reus Deportiu, Sevilla FC, Real Sporting Gijón, Valencia CF, Real Valladolid and Real Zaragoza.
LaLiga Genuine doesn’t only count the sporting results, but also the positive sporting actions shown during the match. Each matchday, teams will get points rewarding sporting behavior, and fair play from players, fans and coaches.
