Capoue says the group is motivated and in a good place
Villarreal CF player Étienne Capoue appeared before the media in the press room of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground to analyse the team’s current situation after beating UD Almería and two days before their Europa League opener against Panathinaikos.
These were the French midfielder’s most important comments:
First week with Pacheta
“We are feeling really good. The ideas that he transmits to us are the same as those of the group and that makes us go in the same direction. It’s still the first week with him and we have to understand what he’s asking of us, but we’re on the right track”.
A lot of games in a few days
“I think it’s good for the group because we all have the opportunity to play and to better understand what the head coach is asking of us. Also to get more physical at the start of the season”.
Fighting to be at the top
“We have shown that we have the level to compete against every team. It’s a question of mentality and we have it”.
Europa League
“It’s a good time to play in Europe. We are doing well and we have the players to play and enjoy the competition. The first objective is to get through the group stage without too much trouble and to do that we have to start by winning on Thursday in Greece.”
Panathinaikos
“In Greece the fans are very loyal and that’s good for them because they will be very motivated, but with our quality we have to stand up to them and be able to win the game”.
