Mario Gaspar shows optimism and trusts the team to produce the correct reaction
Villarreal CF’s players are eagerly awaiting the next match against Leganés (Sunday 16th September, 12pm) to be able to make up for the slow start to the season, according to one of the Yellow Submarine’s captains, Mario Gaspar. The right-back said: “The beginning of the campaign hasn’t been good, so we are really keen for the next match to be here already so we can get three points and turn things around as soon as possible.”
The 27-year-old looked at the team’s current situation, saying: “We have to become more efficient in both areas, not only in attack, but in defence as well. Our aim is to try and let the opposition have as few chances as possible in the area, although it is true that the teams we’ve faced have had an almost 100% efficiency rate. I don’t believe that we are in a bad place, only that we have made silly errors. What’s more, we have been in control of the game on various occasions, even though we haven’t been able to win yet.”
Despite that, the Yellows’ number 2 wanted to send a message of reassurance, underlying that he trusts his team-mates and their ability to react in the correct way. He added: “Despite the results not arriving, I believe the team is working well. He have to push ourselves in certain aspects, but primarily, we have to trust in what we are doing so the victory will come.”
