El entrenador del Villarreal CF, Unai Emery, ha comparecido ante los medios de comunicación en la rueda de prensa previa al encuentro ante el CA Osasuna, correspondiente a la jornada 9 de LaLiga Santander 2022/23 que se disputará mañana lunes, a partir de las 21.00 horas, en el Estadio Ciutat de València. Estas han sido las declaraciones más destacadas del técnico vasco durante la comparecencia:
Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery spoke to the media at the press conference ahead of the match against CA Osasuna, corresponding to Matchday 9 of the 2022/23 LaLiga Santander season, which will be played tomorrow (Monday) at 9pm CEST at the Ciutat de València. These were the most important statements made by the Basque coach during the press conference:
The match
“For us tomorrow’s game is important, not only to break the winless streak in LaLiga, but also to feel able to play our game at home and compete against a team that will offer a lot of duels. We want to be able to compete better than we have done in recent games with a personality and a style of play that will put Osasuna in trouble.”
The opposition
“CA Osasuna are an opponent who compete very well and who have very clear ideas and execute them to perfection. They are capable of both high pressing and a competitive low block. What’s more, they have players with a lot of mobility up front like Chimy Ávila. All this gives them a richness as a team that suits them very well and makes them, more and more, a team that is closer to fighting for European places than for relegation.
Be strong at home
“We are entering the phase before the World Cup break. We are immersed in a phase of continuous matches in which we have to look for the consistency that we want to achieve, but which we have lost in recent games and, for this reason, we want the home advantage to help us in our search for that consistency. The two home games we have played in LaLiga, we have received a good response from our fans.”
A competitive league
“We are entering Matchday 9 of the competition and we can see that each team is starting to look for its place in the standings. Consistency is what marks the standings and we must be able to find that balance. The three points tomorrow will say a lot because of where they are in the standings. We’re in the first third of the league, but there are important things at stake and every point counts.”
The role for the whole squad
“Each player has his own characteristics and a series of skills to give to the team, but at the time we put together the squad so that there are players who can make the necessary contribution when there are absentees. Tomorrow, regardless of the absentees, we hope to find performance in the players who take part.”
