Marcelino pleased with the attitude and performance of the Yellow Submarine in the Copa del Rey
Villarreal coach Marcelino García Toral spoke after the 0-6 Copa del Rey win over Ciudad de Lucena, highlighting his team’s determination and attitude throughout the match. “We showed from the start that we wanted to progress. We are very pleased with that and with the victory, but we also want to thank Ciudad de Lucena for trying to play throughout, for their effort, and I wish them all the best in the competition.”
Regarding the flow of the match, the Asturian explained that Villarreal quickly put the tie in their favour. “The sooner you can secure these kinds of wins, the better. And we did that very well, with two early goals that came quickly, and from there everything becomes much easier.”
The Yellow Submarine coach also praised Tani Oluwaseyi, who scored three of Villarreal’s six goals. “Every time he plays, Tani scores or has chances to do so. His adaptation is faster than we could have expected, and he has a wonderful attitude and great willingness. We are a very cohesive group, and that is the way forward. Maintaining and building on the current state of the squad is key.”
