David Albelda has praised Villarreal B’s competitiveness ahead of Sabadell clash (Saturday, 6:30pm CEST)
Villarreal B manager David Albelda spoke to the media on Friday to preview the Mini Submarine’s upcoming game against CE Sabadell, corresponding to Matchday 5 of the 2025/26 Primera Federación season, which will be played this Saturday at 6.30pm CEST at the Nova Creu Alta.
In his press conference, the Valencian coach analysed his side’s upcoming opponents: “They’re a team that have just been promoted, but they have reinforced themselves well. They have players with plenty of experience in the division, and forwards who score goals. They are a team to be taken into account, with a very clear playing style, and they are doing things well.”
To get a win at the Nova Creu Alta, Albelda called for pragmatism and avoiding mistakes: “It’s a game where we have to recognise the different moments. They commit a lot of players forward through turnovers. We need to be more pragmatic than on other occasions and minimise mistakes, because whenever they attack, they put many men in the box. They’ve also worked hard on set pieces, which will be very important.”
Regarding the team’s start to the season, the Villarreal B head coach highlighted his side’s ability to compete against strong rivals: “We’re pleased. We’ve gone to places like Eldense or Murcia, one of the favourites, and the team has competed well. We’ve been competitive in every game, and that’s a big step forward at this early stage. We’re undergoing a significant transition, but the start has been good.”
