Fran Escribá, hopeful ahead of Saturday’s league opener in Granada (8:15pm CET)
Villarreal CF Manager, Fran Escribá, assured that the team is/are ready ahead of the tomorrow’s match against Granada (8:15pm CET, Los Cármenes stadium), which will be the Yellows’ league opener.
The Manager says the team must recover as soon as posible from the setback against Monaco so they can put in a good performance against the side from Granada: “Our players are professionals that are coming off the back off a tough loss. We can come back against Monaco, but now we are starting a new competition and we can’t think further ahead than the match against Granada”.
According to Escribá, the six players out injured should not be an excuse: “We still have a shortage of players but this is no excuse. The fans also woke up annoyed on Thursday morning after the defeat against Monaco and that’s why we have to turn the page now, come back from this stronger and go to Granada and give our best. These next two weeks are going to be hard due to the injuries we have. We want to win against Granada and start the season off well”.
The Submarine Manager said that they must not force the injured players: “We have to be clever and not force the injured players back to soon because there is a break coming up”.
Regarding the analysis of tomorrow’s opponents, Escribá warned that Granada are a strong side: “Granada are a team that like to play well out the back, they pass the ball around well and have fast players in midfield and attack. We have only had 6 days to adapt and Granada has had 6 weeks to prepare for this match”.
Lastly, Fran Escribá gave his opinon about this season’s LaLiga: “The fight for European places will be more open than ever. The teams have been strengthened well. We have the best league”.
