Striker Adrián López scored the game’s only goal for Villarreal vs Liverpool
Adrián López entered the UEFA Europa League Semi-final against Liverpool in the 73rd minute and became the hero of the night. The striker scored the only goal of the game as he finished off a great play by Villarreal in injury time. “It was a counterattack that started with me heading the ball on to Bruno and he then played a fantastic long ball to Denis, who settled it with a perfect first touch and got his head up to see me entering the box on the other side. Then all that was left was for me to tap it in”, recounted the forward.
In spite of the 1-0 win though, the Yellow number 20 said it’s important that they don’t get ahead of themselves: “We’ve done what we wanted to do, which was to win and not concede. We’ve taken a big step in this tie, but we have take another because we still have to go Anfield and it will be tough there”.
