Javi Fuego says that he will bring “experience on and off the pitch”
A new member of the crew for the Yellow Submarine. At midday today Javi Fuego was officially presented at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva). The midfielder has signed for the Yellows for two and a half seasons (until June 2020) and spoke to the media today together with Villarreal CF CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles, who welcomed him to the club.
Javi Fuego, who will wear the number 19 for Villarreal, was “grateful” for the confidence that Villarreal CF have shown in him: “I’m very grateful to Villarreal for the confidence they have given me. I’m very happy to come to Villarreal. At this stage in my career, these type of our opportunities are irresistible. They’ve welcomed me with open arms in the changing room. I come to the club to contribute on and off the pitch and to help with the team’s goals”.
Likewise, the centre midfielder talked about his link to the Yellows: “I’m flattered that a club as big as Villarreal has thought about me. This club focuses on sports and personal values. I’ve laways been a good teammate in the changing room and I’m going to keep being that and try to bring my best to the group”.
On the other hand, Javi Fuego was “excited” for the upcoming challenges his new team face and emphasised that he’s “ready to compete”. “The team is in great form. Close to achieving a very exciting goal in the Champions League spot and in good stead for the European tie against Olympique Lyon. I’ve come here with great enthusiasm. I’ve been training and competing at my previous club so I’m ready for whenever the Manager needs me”, the experienced footballer stated.
Fernando Roig Negueroles: “Javi Fuego is a player that will bring a lot to us”
For his part, Villarreal CF CEO, Fernando Roig Negueroles, was full of praise for the new Villarreal player. “He is a very experienced player, with a fantastic career behind him. He’s left on a good note there and we believe he can bring a lot to us. We’re very happy he has joined us and we would like to give him a warm welcome”, the club CEO highlighted.
