The Yellows were knocked out in the final moments against Real Madrid in the quarter-finals (1-2)
After the opening day of the 32nd ASCALE LALIGA FC FUTURES National Tournament, Villarreal’s Alevín A side needed at least a point in their final group-stage match to reach the knockout rounds – and they delivered.
In a tightly contested match against Real Betis (1-1), the Yellows advanced to the next round as group runners-up. A spectacular late goal from Sulli in the second half proved crucial. Villarreal were also helped by RCD Espanyol’s win over CA Osasuna, which secured their place in the quarter-finals.
In the afternoon, Villarreal faced Real Madrid with a place in the semi-finals at stake. Juanma Blasco’s side went ahead early in the second half thanks to a fine strike from Marc García (1-0), but Real Madrid quickly equalised (1-1). In the closing minutes, nerves and a slightly controversial moment proved costly as Real Madrid scored a last-gasp winner, knocking Villarreal CF out just short of the semi-finals (1-2).
