The club will be in attendance alongside Vila-real Town Council to export the tourist potential of football and the Estadio de la Cerámica
Villarreal CF will be present at this year’s edition of the International Tourism Fair in Madrid (Fitur – Feria Internacional de Turismo de Madrid), which will be held from 22nd to 26th January at IFEMA (Fair Institution of Madrid). The Yellows will attend this prestigious international event together with Vila-real Town Council to show the world the city’s tourism and sporting potential, with Villarreal CF as its main sporting ambassador and the Estadio de la Cerámica project, which transcends the boundaries of sport to become a space of tourist interest and a spectacular meeting point with a wide range of leisure and gastronomic options.
The Submarine’s recent continental successes, such as Villarreal’s historic triumph in the UEFA Europa League in 2021 or the historic performance in the UEFA Champions League in 2022, have made a decisive contribution to positioning Vila-real as a world-renowned town linked to sport. A positioning that Villarreal CF has been reinforcing thanks to the impressive trajectory in the elite of national and continental football over the last two decades, in which it has become one of the most recognised sports brands on the planet.
Beyond the sporting sphere, under the leadership of Fernando Roig, the club’s president and a successful businessman in the ceramics sector, Villarreal launched an ambitious project around its home: the Estadio de la Cerámica. The Yellows stadium adopted this name that pays tribute to the most important economic engine of our homeland and brings together the sponsorship of the main companies in the province of Castellón. At the same time, the entity led an impressive reform that has turned Villarreal’s stadium into much more than a sports facility; a multifunctional space with a wide gastronomic and leisure offer linked to sport.
The Estadio de la Cerámica is not only an exceptional setting to enjoy elite football. Following the refurbishment, carried out by Villarreal CF during its centenary year, the stadium has impressive spaces such as the 1923 Club, three restaurants (El Ceramista, El Vasco and Corner Sports Bar), an immersive Museum & Tour experience, a state-of-the-art lecture theatre and an official store.
On the outskirts of the pitch, after reaching an agreement with Vila-real Town Council, a huge square was built, adjacent to the Fondo Sur of the Estadio de la Cerámica, which has become a meeting and cultural space, where numerous social, sporting and cultural events linked to Villarreal CF and the city’s social agenda have taken place. This large space is presided over by two impressive sculptures by the prestigious artist Jaume Plensa, Silvia and Maria, which have been donated to the town by the Fundación Hortensia Herrero and Mercadona.
As a result of the work between Villarreal CF and the municipal corporation, Vila-real has become the ‘town of football’, being the town with the most football pitches per capita in Europe (17 per 52,000 inhabitants). Thanks to this strong commitment to sport, the city has 27 municipal sports facilities, including five pavilions and three swimming pools, totalling nearly 75,000 square metres dedicated to sport and health promotion.
The presentation will take place on Wednesday 22nd January at 12pm CET at the Region of Valencia Tourism stand at Fitur, where the town of Vila-real will be represented by the Provincial Tourist Board.
