The Yellow Submarine will hold a camp in Iceland from 23rd to 26th April in collaboration with Íþróttafélag Reykjavíkur
Through its international expansion project, Villarreal Academy, the club organises multiple camps around the world. From 23rd to 26th April, Villarreal will host its first camps in Iceland in partnership with Íþróttafélag Reykjavíkur, a club with a rich history in Icelandic sports culture. The club currently runs a youth academy for players aged three to 18, as well as senior teams competing in the national leagues.
The camps is open to both boys and girls in the U14 and U16 age groups and will take place at ÍR Reykjavik – ÍR Völlur in Reykjavik. Villarreal CF coaches will travel to Iceland to lead the four-day camps, applying the club’s unique and innovative methodology. As a special reward, two players will be selected to compete in an official Villarreal tournament in Spain with an international team.
ÍR’s Head of Youth Development, Halldór Arnarsson, highlighted the importance of this partnership: “Thanks to this collaboration, we can offer our players a high-quality football environment inspired by Villarreal CF’s methodology. It is a club that has achieved great success by focusing on structure, identity, and strong youth development. We want to learn from their approach and give our young players access to the same professional level. We also hope to help Villarreal CF expand its presence and impact in Iceland.”
From Villarreal CF, International Business Manager Brandon Páramo expressed his excitement: “We continue to drive international growth through initiatives like this event in Iceland, where we will share our approach to football. We want young players to experience the Club from within, training with our coaches and opening the door for them to one day visit Villarreal in person.”
