Villarreal B taste their first win (1-0)

The Mini Submarine get their first in the Primera Federación thanks to a great Tiago Geralnik goal

Villarreal B defeated Recreativo de Huelva (1-0) to record their first win of the season. The Yellows put in a great performance and were able to overcome one of the biggest teams in the league. Los Groguets were more consistent than their opponents and grew with the passing of the minutes. Tiago Geralnik, with a superb goal, sealed the win at the Mini Estadi.

Recreativo Huelva had the first chance of the game with a shot from David del Pozo, which forced Iker Álvarez to make a fantastic save after the first quarter of an hour. In the 22nd minute, Miguel Álvarez’s side hit back with a long-range effort from Joseda, which Rubén Gálvez turned behind for a corner.

Recre started the game better, but Villarreal B grew in strength as the minutes went by. They took possession and built up several positional attacks in the opposition half. One of them ended in a promising chance for Pau Cabanes. The striker from Burriana tried unsuccessfully with a cross-shot after a through ball from Thiago Ojeda.

In the second half, the Yellows continued the good play they had shown in the final stretch of the first half. Just after the restart, Pau Cabanes again tested Rubén Gálvez with a shot from the edge of the area, but to no avail.

Before the hour mark, Miguel Álvarez’s side deservedly took the lead. Tiago Geralnik’s long-range effort was just wide of the far post and beat Rubén Gálvez. It was a great goal from the Argentinian to open the scoring at the Mini Estadi.

Soon after, Víctor could have made it 2-0 with a great individual move. He drove from the halfway line, leaving everyone in his path behind him. But he slammed his shot straight at the Huelva goalkeeper.

The advantage forced Recre to go forward and leave space behind their defence. Villarreal B tried to take advantage of this with quick transitions and by remaining solid at the back. Miguel Álvarez’s team held on to their lead, which was enough to secure their first win of the season.
