The Yellow reserves achieved a prestigious win against CE Sabadell thanks to goals from Álex Millán and Edu Espiau
Villarreal B achieved a prestigious victory against CE Sabadell, the league leaders. High pressure, long collective plays and defensive concentration were key for the Mini Submarine. The Yellows’ goals were the work of Álex Millán and Edu Espiau, both in the second half.
The Villarreal CF reserves started the match by pressing very high which surprised CE Sabadell in the early stages. The result of this approach, the Yellow side created the first chances of the game. The clearest of chances came in the 14th minute, after a great filtered pass from Álex Baena to Edu Espiau which the striker sent into the hands of Mackay.
The initial momentum from Miguel Álvarez’s side did not decline despite the great physical effort and the difficulty of playing against the league leaders. Villarreal B had another opportunity to get onto the scoreboard, in the 26th minute, after a great centre from Pacheco which was finished off by Collado towards Mackay’s body. For their part, CE Sabadell threatened to score through several crosses, which both the defenders and Fuoli knew how to clear away from the home goal area.
The opening minutes of the second half were under clear Yellow control and proof of this was from CE Sabadell’s attacking players struggling to get into the game. The first goal came in the 80th minute after a quick Yellow counterattack. The substitute Álex Millán picked up a rebound within the goal area to score the first goal for Miguel Álvarez’s side.
Villarreal B killed the game a few minutes later following a great collective play at the edge of the area. Pacheco set up Edu Espiau so that he only had to finish it. The next Villarreal B match will be away at Atlético Levante (Saturday, 5pm).
