The Mini Submarine took an early lead through Ayman but were unable to secure the win
Villarreal B drew 1-1 with Real Murcia CF in a tightly contested match at the Mini Estadi, extending their unbeaten run to ten games. Despite taking the lead through Ayman, the Mini Submarine could not put the game to bed and were pegged back just before half-time.
David Albelda’s side started the match with personality and determination. In fact, Ayman threatened in the 4th minute and, just two minutes later, the Valencian forward put the groguets ahead (1-0).
Villarreal B controlled the tempo and had two more chances to extend their lead. First, Budesca unleashed a powerful strike that forced the visiting goalkeeper into action. Then, just before the break, Ayman combined well with Albert García, but the final effort went wide. Murcia, however, made the most of their only clear chance on target, as Óscar Gil found the net in the 45th minute to level the score (1-1).
After the restart, the match seemed to tilt in Villarreal’s favour. Murcia were reduced to ten men when Palmberg received a red card for a dangerous foul on José Ángel Gaitán. Nevertheless, despite their numerical advantage, Villarreal B were unable to find a second goal.
The Yellow Submarine kept pushing, mainly through wide deliveries from Budesca and Nizar, but the forwards’ efforts failed to hit the target. The clearest opportunity came in stoppage time (90’+1), when Hugo López met a cut-back from Iván Rodríguez, only to see his shot drift narrowly wide once again.
Villarreal B’s next match will be played on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. against CD Eldense at the Mini Estadi.
