The Mini Submarine fall 0-3 at the Mini Estadi thanks to goals from Manin, Álvaro Leiva and Juan Hernández
Villarreal B lost at the Mini Estadi against Algeciras in an even match that went the way of the visitors thanks to their greater success in front of goal. The goals were scored by Manin, Álvaro Leiva and Juan Hernández (0-3).
Miguel Álvarez, as usual, could not count on several players due to injury or suspension. Special mention should be made of the absence of Etta Eyong, as the Yellows’ top scorer was unable to take the field due to suspension.
The first half was extremely even, with no clear goal scoring chances. Both teams fought for every ball as if it were the last one of the match and there was a lot of inaccuracy on the pitch. Defences prevailed over attacks.
Already in the second half, the game became more agitated. Both teams were not satisfied with a draw. Algeciras took an early lead. In the 51st minute, former Villarreal youth player player Manin headed home a cross from the corner at the far post.
The 0-2 came ten minutes later. Álvaro Leiva broke away with pace and skill in a deadly counter-attack that ended in a goal (m.61).
Miguel Álvarez made three changes in one go in search of a reaction, bringing on Thiago Ojeda, Víctor and Quintero. A lot of power in attack. Seconds later, Slavy was clearly fouled for a penalty which the referee did not give.
The definitive 0-3 came from Juan Hernández with a left-footed shot from outside the area in stoppage time.
Villarreal B’s next game will be away against Atlético Sanluqueño (Sunday, 12pm CEST).
