The Mini Submarine deserved to beat Antequera, who equalised late on
Just seconds away from victory. Villarreal B drew against leaders Antequera in a match in which the Mini Submarine deserved to take all three points, but they dropped two in the closing stages (1-1). The Yellows nullified Antequera’s attack and had several chances to score in the first half. Even so, they did not manage to take the lead until the second half. In the 60th minute, Etta Eyong was brought down inside the area. The striker himself converted the penalty. The visitors, after a heady final push, levelled the score from a corner in the 89th minute.
Miguel Álvarez fielded a starting XI with three changes from last week’s match against CF Fuenlabrada. Cristo, Thiago Ojeda and the team’s top scorer, Etta Eyong, returned to the starting line-up.
From the start of the game, Villarreal B pressed Antequera high up the pitch, making it difficult for them to play. The Mini Submarine, who thanks to several ball steals in midfield, had chances to open the scoring. Requena had the clearest chance of the first 45 minutes. The Yellows No.11 would end up sending the ball against the post after a great pass from Cristo, who was very active in attack.
Just after that, Antequera had their best chance of the game. After a good attacking transition, Siddiki, who had just come onto the pitch, sent the ball wide from inside the area.
The opener came in the 60th minute. Etta Eyong was brought down inside the area and it was the striker himself who took the responsibility of converting the penalty. It was his tenth goal of the season.
After the goal, Antequera tried to take control of the game. In the last minute, the leader managed to equalise in a play full of bad luck for the Yellows, as Alassane Diatta put the ball into his own goal in his attempt to clear the ball.
Villarreal B’s next game is away to Real Madrid Castilla (Sunday, 3:30pm CET).
