

The Mini Submarine get a point in a competitive game against a hard-working Catalan side
A share of the points between Villarreal B and UE Cornellà (0-0). The Mini Submarine drew in a hard-fought win against a good team, who competed and put in a great physical display. Wth the draw, the Yellows are still in their fight at the top of the table, and have an advantage over the Catalan side in terms of head-to-head, a team who are a direct opponent in the fight for the play-offs.
There wasn’t much between the sides from early on. As the minutes went on, Villarreal B started to get more possession and playing in the opposition half. The most dangerous chance in the whole match came in the 17th minute, when Iván Martín was unable to convert a great assist from Andrei, who accelerated quickly, got into the opposition box and played a ball across to his opponent to shoot from the penalty spot.
Five minutes later, the away side had a double chance, stopped first by Diego Fuoli, and then by Pepe Castaño, clearing the ball of the goal line.
From there, the goalscoring opportunities deceased and the match became a hard-fought duel. Facing a physical UE Cornellà side, Miguel Álvarez’s team tried to go ahead by playing on the edge of the box, but were unable to convert their possession into clear chances.
In the second half, Mukwelle Akale came on to try and change the outcome of the tie. Form the right flank, he caused problems for the opposition defence. However, the Yellows were unable to convert their dominance into chances to get on the scoreboard.
In the 86th minute, with Villarreal B looking for a goal, the referee sent off Carlos Blanco, meaning the Mini Submarine had to play with a man less for the last five minutes. There were no late surprises and the match ended in a fair draw, which sees the Yellows still in the play-off mix. Next up is a game against Lleida Esportiu for Álvarez’s side.
