The Yellows had to come from behind twice against Juventud Torremolinos, drawing thanks to goals from Alassane Diatta and Valou
Villarreal B earned a hard-fought point against Juventud Torremolinos in a match in which the Yellows had to come from behind on two occasions. The goals for the hosts were scored by Alassane Diatta (penalty) and Valou (2-2).
The visitors started strongly and created two clear chances before opening the scoring. On both occasions, Rubén Gómez prevented the goal. First he denied Usseyn with a powerful strike and shortly afterwards he stopped another effort from Peque Polo.
The 0-1 arrived in the 12th minute. Usseyn broke free down the right wing and fired a powerful shot that this time beat the Villarreal B captain and goalkeeper.
The Yellows reacted and almost equalised with an acrobatic effort from E. Eto’o (20’). In the closing minutes of the first half, the equaliser arrived. Albert García struck the ball inside the box and it hit the arm of a defender. After consulting the video assistant referee, the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Alassane Diatta stepped up and confidently found the top corner from the spot (1-1, 43’).
The second half started badly for Villarreal B. Just seconds after the restart, Juventud Torremolinos took the lead again. This time Iban Ribeiro scored from a Fran Gallego assist, the latter having just come on at half-time (1-2, 47’).
The Yellows spent the entire second half pushing in search of an equaliser, though clear chances were hard to come by. Their persistence was finally rewarded in the 89th minute. Iván R. struck a powerful free kick from the edge of the box and the goalkeeper’s rebound was turned home by Valou to make it 2-2. The points were ultimately shared.
Villarreal B’s next match will be away to Antequera (Saturday, 6:30pm CET). Let’s keep fighting!
