The B team had a number of goalscoring opportunities in a match where Slavy made his debut and Álex Fores returned from injury
Villarreal B played out a goalless draw at Fuenlabrada (0-0). The Yellows deserved much more, as they had clear chances to take all three points from the Estadio Fernando Torres. Slavy made his debut and Álex Forés returned to the pitch after overcoming a serious injury.
The Mini Submarine’s starting line-up included the presence of striker Slavy, who made his debut leading the line. Another interesting feature was the return of Álex Forés, who, after overcoming a long injury, was on the bench.
Miguel Álvarez’s team dominated from the start of the game on a pitch that did not facilitate the quick circulation of the ball.
Throughout the first 45 minutes, the Yellows could have taken the lead on several occasions. The clearest chance came from the excellent left foot of Quintero, who tried his luck from the edge of the area, only to be denied by Lucas’ feline save.
Just after the start of the second half, Quintero was at it again. The skilful Colombian winger curled a left-footed shot off the top of his head and just missed the post. It was a pity. Shortly afterwards it was Arnau Solà who fired over from distance, forcing Lucas into a difficult save.
Villarreal B continued to lay siege to Lucas’ goal, who was determined to be the undisputed star of the match. The next chance came from Requena’s right-footed shot from the edge of the area, which again found the Fuenlabrada goalkeeper.
The return of Álex Forés
One of the moments of the match came in the 76th minute. Álex Fores returned to the pitch after overcoming a serious tibia injury in May 2024 against Amorebieta. The B team’s No.9 replaced Quintero. He had a goalscoring opportunity, but it was blocked by a Fuenlabrada defender.
Next up for Villarreal B will be Antequera at the Mini Estadi (Sunday, 3:30pm CET).
