The Mini Submarine, after an impressive performance, lost two points in the closing moments of the match
Villarreal B got a brave point away at Barcelona B (1-1). Miguel Álvarez’s side, after being ahead in the match for more than an hour, were seconds away from leaving Catalonia with a sixth consecutive win, but with the last piece of play, the three points escaped them after a goal from a corner.
The Mini Submarine had a great game. They were solid at the back and dangerous on the counter, making it hard for a Barcelona side who saw more of the ball. In the 32nd minute, a breakaway from Samu Chukwueze ended up with a foul against the Nigerian in the box. From the penalty spot, Xavi Quintillà put the away side ahead with a calm shot.
In the second half, Barcelona B searched for the leveller. However, the home side were frustrated by the Yellows’ solid defence, while Álvarez’s side also pushed for the second.
As the game was coming to a close, Barça, through Jorge Cuenca, got the equaliser. Villarreal B had no time to respond, and left Catalonia with a noteworthy point at a tough stadium.
Next up for the Mini Submarine is a home match against Atlético Baleares next weekend.
