The Yellow Submarine will compete for a second year running in the tournament with a million-dollar prize
Villarreal CF will return to The Soccer Tournament (TST), the fun, high-stakes competition held in Cary (North Carolina, US) from 4th to 9th June. The Yellows will once more compete for the one-million-dollar prize for the winners in the 7-a-side tournament.
TST features teams from all over the world, with Borussia Dortmund, Wrexham AFC, and Luis Nani’s Nani FC also among the teams announced to be returning today for its third edition.
Last year, Villarreal, coached by César Arzo, and with legends such as Marcos Senna, Giuseppe Rossi, Xisco Nadal and Héctor Font playing, reached the knockout stage, after finishing second in their group. They were eliminated by Hoosier Army, a team of alumni from Indiana University.
Marcos Senna will return as captain, with the rest of the squad to be confirmed in the weeks and months before the tournament.
The club will also be hosting nine clinics for youngsters attending the tournament, with up to 100 spaces in each session. One player will be picked to have a special experience in Spain, a week training like a pro with Villarreal CF youth academy teams.
