The Yellows have unveiled their exciting project for international academies
Villarreal Academy is now a reality. This Thursday, the Yellows have presented the exciting international academy project in front of the media. The press conference, which took place in the press room at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva), saw the involvement of Yellows vice-president, Jose Manuel Llaneza; International Department director Juan Antón; and Giovanni Vazquez, Villarreal North Texas Academy.
Through this project, Villarreal CF hopes to form footballers on a worldwide level, under the Yellows’ recognised philosophy and methodology. The Yellows family is constantly growing internationally thanks to the affiliations with academies and football schools throughout in various continents.
Villarreal Academy will end the 2018/19 season with 24 academies across the world. There is a presence in the United States, South Korea, Japan, China and Australia, and Villarreal’s international academies reach more than 3,500 young footballers. Moreover, the Yellows will continue to carryout this programme in the future in countries like Canada, Puerto Rico, Panama and El Salvador, where football is a growing phenomenon, which could take the total number of players involved to 6,000. Currently, the Yellows work with two types of academies: official partner academies and affiliated schools.
Through the international academies of Villarreal CF, the club expands its brands beyond our borders and acts as an ambassador for the province of Castellón, making it known in five continents. The academies have the chance to get to know and put into place the methodology of philosophy of the Yellows Academy, with the aim of the players growing both on a sporting and personal level based on Villarreal CF’s values.
It is worth noting that the current youth system of the club in Spain currently has international players such as Mukwelle Akale (Villarreal B) and Kenne Kessler (Ladies First Team), both from the US, and Ahn Junehyuk (Villarreal C), who is from South Korea.
