Villarreal CF Manager, Javi Calleja, said it was tough for his side to play over half an hour with 10 men
The Villarreal CF Manager, Javi Calleja, stated that his team did not deserve to lose by two goals to nil against FC Barcelona in a match that they had to play more than 30 minutes with a man down after the sending off of Dani Raba. “We were defending well and our attacking players looked good, but after the sending off the game got away from us”, the Manager commented.
The Yellows boss was disappointed with Raba’s sending off and commented that there were some controversial refereeing decisions: “There were different rules for different teams it seemed. Very similar actions were refereed differently for either team”.
One of the surprises in the starting lineup was Ruben Semedo in the middle of the pitch. “We were looking for more consistency in the middle of the pitch. We had to be strong in the middle, help the centre backs and free up Rodri and Manu”, the Manager commented.
Lastly, Calleja mentioned tomorrow’s UEFA Europa League draw that will be held in Nyon (1pm CET). “We don’t have any prefernces in terms of opponents, whoever we get we’ll have to beat them”, the Villarreal CF boss concluded.
