Villarreal B were far superior to their opponents, but failed to translate their good play into goals
Villarreal B played a great game against SD Huesca. The Yellows subdued their opponents for almost the entire game. A lack of goals was the only thing that prevented the Mini Submarine from what would have been a deserved victory at the Estadio de la Cerámica. With the draw, Miguel Álvarez’s side continue impressing in the second tier, with 45 points now.
In the first half, Villarreal B were the better side against SD Huesca. The Mini Submarine dominated possession and had a lot of presence in the opposition half. The best chance in the first 45 minutes came from Sergio Lozano. The midfielder received a pass from Carlo on the edge of the area and unhesitatingly shot at goal. One of his usual missiles, which was saved with a fantastic save by Andrés Fernández, former goalkeeper of the Submarine.
The start of the second half saw a frenetic tempo from Miguel Álvarez’s team, who once again put Andrés Fernández in trouble with another Sergio Lozano strike. The No.21 hit a ferocious shot, forcing the goalkeeper to make a difficult save.
Before the hour mark, Fer Niño came close to making it 1-0 with a powerful header. His close-range shot from a cross from the right flank was saved by Andrés Fernández once more, who made a stellar save.
As the game progressed, the Mini Submarine pressed their opponents more and more. Miguel Álvarez’s team were not content with a draw. They put the pressure on the Huesca side, who had to fight for the point with skill until the end. Villarreal B couldn’t find the goal and the match ended up as a draw at La Ceramica.
