The club has awarded the grant to a total of 92 young students thanks to the Cátedra Endavant
Villarreal CF awarded scholarships to elite athletes at the Jaume I University this Monday in a ceremony held at the Faculty of Health Sciences and attended by Marcos Senna, head of the club’s Institutional Relations department.
During the 2023/24 academic year, the Yellows have awarded a total of 92 scholarships to athletes from the public university. The granting of these scholarships began in the 2012/13 academic year and since then 560 scholarships have been awarded to athletes studying at the Jaume I University. The cumulative total of this investment amounts to €320,000. In 2024, the financial endowment has increased from €30,000 to the current €40,000 per year.
The grants pursue a double objective: on the one hand, to reward the academic performance of university sports students based on the average of their academic record and, on the other hand, to value their high performance in the field of sport, taking into account their activity or results in a specific sporting modality. They are also intended to finance part of the expenses incurred by the study of the regulated qualifications in which the student athletes are enrolled.
The Cátedra Endavant, the link between Villarreal CF and the Jaume I University
The Cátedra Endavant, which was created in 2015 through an agreement between Villarreal CF and the Jaume I University, has been renewed this season until 2026. The general objectives of the agreement between the club and the university centre are the promotion of training, research, dissemination of knowledge and innovation in the field of sport, as well as the promotion of sporting practice and competition among university students through training scholarships.
