Marcelino underlines the importance of the upcoming week, with three matches ahead, for where the Submarine finish in the table
Villarreal CF head coach, Marcelino García Toral, spoke to the media in the press room at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground to talk about tomorrow’s game against Real Sociedad (4:15pm CEST, Estadio de la Cerámica).
He predicts a complicated game, but is confident of maintaining the high level of performance in order to get three important points in the fight for Europe. This is what he had to say:
Pape Gueye’s return
“We have three midfielders who have played a lot of minutes and others who can fulfil different roles. The ideal situation, as I have said many times, is to have as many players as possible because it can be decisive at the end of the season.”
A key week with three games ahead
“In eight days we are going to play three games. All of them very important. There are eight games left, that’s a lot, and this week could be key because we play three games and our rivals only two, so depending on how many points we get we’ll know if we’re closer or further away. We have an ambition and a goal, so we have to give everything we’ve got in the remaining games.”
The rival, Real Sociedad
“Real Sociedad are a very solid team who constantly put you under pressure, who don’t let you think and execute and who have their head coach’s idea of the game very much ingrained. They have 12 clean sheets to their name and perhaps they are not at the top of the table because of their accuracy in front of goal, but I think they are a very difficult opponent to face.”
The importance of the fans
“We assume and hope that the stadium will be full. They will surely support us as they always do and we will give our maximum effort, as it can’t be any other way, to get a victory, which would be very important.”
