Miguel Álvarez highlights the good form of the B team after two wins in a row (Sunday, 5.30pm CET)
Villarreal B head coach, Miguel Álvarez, spoke to Villarreal TV ahead of the upcoming match against Hércules CF (Sunday, 5.30pm CET).
‘We are confident after two games. Winning helps you to keep winning. It reinforces the work we’re doing,” said a satisfied head coach after two deserved victories against Alcorcón and Alcoyano.
Despite the team’s good form, Miguel Álvarez has warned that a good momentum is not enough to win at a difficult ground such as the Rico Pérez: “It’s a beautiful ground. It’s one of the first grounds that impressed me when I started in professional football. It’s a historic team with incredible fans. We are level on points and they even beat us in pre-season. The games have to be fought, regardless of the situation. We know they are strong. If we boast about two victories, they’re going to put the brakes on us. We have to compete very well, otherwise it will be difficult for us there.”
“The standings are very tight. There are very good teams and there is a lot of equality. It’s a category with great teams. Anyone can beat you. It’s a beautiful competition and it’s usually down to the goals in the penalty area,” said the head coach about this exciting league.
Finally, Miguel Álvarez praised the good work of Etta Eyong, top scorer in the Primera RFEF, after scoring two goals against CD Alcoyano: “We try to make him better in what he has room for growth. This year he’s made a leap in class. He’s a very young boy. He is a young person and a young professional. Etta has the makings to make it to elite football. He’s very good and ambitious. He’s always thinking about improving.”
