Jordi Ferriols’ side beat Osasuna convincingly with two goals from Sara Medina
Villarreal Women claimed their second win of the season in the Primera Federación Femenina, and their second in a row, with a convincing 2-0 victory away to CA Osasuna. The win came thanks to a brace from Sara Medina and a secure performance in goal from Montse Quesada.
Jordi Ferriols’ side started brightly, showing their intent to dominate possession from the very beginning. The first clear chance arrived in the 11th minute when Albeta crossed for Lauris, whose header went just wide.
The Yellows controlled the tempo, pressing well off the ball and giving away very little at the back. Osasuna had a couple of attempts, but Montse Quesada dealt with them comfortably. In the 31st minute, Villarreal were rewarded. Laura Martín won back possession, María linked up with Lauris, and she delivered a perfect cross for Sara Medina, who calmly slotted past the keeper to make it 0-1. Just before the break, Osasuna’s Irati had their best chance, but Montse once again produced a fine save to ensure Villarreal went into half-time ahead.
In the second half, Villarreal maintained their high press and continued to dominate the game. Sara Medina had another chance in the 58th minute with a header from a María Macías cross, but this time it went over. Moments later, in the 67th minute, the midfielder stunned everyone with a long-range strike that flew into the top corner — a spectacular goal to double the lead to 0-2.
In added time, Montse Quesada shone again with a double save to deny the hosts and secure a clean sheet, rounding off a second consecutive victory for the Yellows.
Villarreal Women’s next fixture will be this Tuesday at 8pm CEST against Valencia CF on Pitch 5 of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground, in the second round of the Copa de la Reina.
