The Yellows U8s were named champions, while the U16s and U12s lost in the final
A party celebrating the best national and international youth football around, with children aged from six to 19 years old. More than 130 teams, from different countries, such as Derby County (United Kingdom) and Amazing FA (Japan), as well as from across Spain, such as Sevilla FC, Real Sociedad and Fundación Marcet from Barcelona, enjoyed the passionate Villarreal Yellow Cup Easter this weekend. Not even the wind and rain could take the shine off a competition which gains more prestige every year, with more than 300 matches taking part.
A total of 2,000 players took part in the tournament. It had a massive impact on the province of Castellón, with 20,000 fans watching the Yellow Cup Easter in person, with those people also staying in the province.
It must be noted that the Yellow Cup Easter is one of four tournaments organised by Villarreal CF, alongside the Villarreal Final Cup, the Yellow Cup Summer and the Costa Girona Cup.
A new feature of the tournament compared to previous editions saw all the finals shown live on the club’s livestreaming service Villarreal CF Live, as well as on the club’s official Twitter, Facebook and YouTube channels. Furthermore, the 11-a-side finals took place in the Mini Estadi, which made those taking part feel like professional players.
The boys’ winners were Levante in the U19s (Juvenil) category, Real Sociedad in the U16s (Cadete) category and Sevilla FC at U14 (Cadete) level. The girls’ U16s category was won by Levante UD. In 8-a-side, Villarreal took the U8 (Prebenjamín) title, CE Sabadell took the U10s (Benjamín) and Sevilla FC the U12s (Alevín). In the girls’ U12s, Global Premier Soccer were the winners.
Whether or not their teams reached the finals, all players taking part were given a great prize to celebrate their time at the tournament on Sunday, watching Villarreal CF take on CD Leganés at the Estadio de la Cerámica, while enjoying the Fan Zone outside the stadium ahead of the match.
Furthermore, Villarreal CF and Endeka Sports organised over activities to make the competition into a unique experience for all teams that came to the province of Castellón to enjoy it. They had a tour of the Estadio de la Cerámica, a pool party in the Intur Orange Hotel in Benicàssim and a cocktail party for their guardians, as well as many other fun events.
