The Yellows outfit are joint top of the table, and are the top scorers and have conceded the fewest goals
Villarreal CF has one of the best academies on the national and international stage. Proof of that is the results of the Yellows Academy teams as each year, various outfits end the season top of their league.
This is the case for the U11s (Alevin B), coached by Carlos Bou, who are joint-top of the Valencia SuperLiga with 39 points from their first 14 games. Furthermore, this season is the first season in the ‘Alevín’ group for the players. That would normally mean a period of adaptation, but that hasn’t been the case for the U11s: “The majority have been competing in the SuperLiga for a while, so they’re more than adapted,” explained Bou.
The numbers speak for themselves: 13 wins, just one defeat, most goals scored in the league (74) and fewest goals conceded (10). They’re statistics that show the hard work of the coaches and the quality of the players so far this season. Bou added: “The team understood the playing model in the first round of fixtures and that is why they are where they are. The first round of fixtures have seen us learn really quickly.”
This weekend, they faced Alboraya B at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva). The Yellows won 5-2 thanks to goals from Aleix Ferrer (3) and Alejandro Duque (2). Unstoppable.
A team with a lot of resources
The U11s have a lot of strengths, which explain their position in the table, but Bou is clear: “We have a lot of solutions within a match, each player is good in one aspect of the pitch. It’s what makes this team hard to defend against. Our strong points is our versatility.” They’re a team who it is hard to face, and has different strengths both individually and collectively.
For the young players, it isn’t just the football that’s important, but also that they’re a group who are good friends too. Bou positively values the existing relationships between the players who make up his squad: “They’re great team-mates, before complaining, they prefer to help each other. In terms of group work, we haven’t had to work much as they’re already good friends. They hang out at weekends, they go to each other’s birthdays and they have a great time. In terms of their studies, they get good grades, so they know the importance of studying.”
The U11s (Alevín B) is made up of the following components:
