Carlos Bacca is the fifth Villarreal player to score a hat-trick in the First Division
This past Saturday, Carlos Bacca wrote his name in the Villarreal history books. The Colombian forward scored three goals in the match against RC Celta (in 24 minutes) and became the fifth Yellow Submarine player to do so in the First Division following Riquelme, Forlán, Uche and Bakambu. Joseba Llorente must also be added to that list, as he scored three goals for Villarreal against Aalborg in the UEFA Champions League 2008/09 (6-3). In fact, Llorente still holds the record for the quickest hat-trick in that very match, scoring all three goals in 17 minutes.
Bacca had not scored three goals in one match before in Spain. What’s more, the Yellow number 9 is the first to have scored three goals in the first half of a match this season. “I’m enjoying this great moment, but with my feet on the ground as there are four finals left to play”, Carlos commented.
For Bacca, now it’s the decisive phase: “Now the best part of the season is coming up. In the last couple of matches we’ve met our objectives and now we have to make one last big effort”.
