Villarreal CF, together with the ‘Alcem-se Esport’ programme of the Fundación Trinidad Alfonso, have financed its reconstruction thanks to their donation of two million euros.
Villarreal CF were present this Monday at the opening ceremony of the new La Torre football pitch, financed by the Yellows, thanks to the donation of two million euros made to the Fundación Trinidad Alfonso’s ‘Alcem-se Esport’ programme.
Raúl Albiol and Juan Foyth, members of the Villarreal CF first team, as well as Marcos Senna, club legend and current ambassador of the yellow club, were present at this special and emotional event. Also present on the day were members of Discóbolo La Torre AC; Juan Miguel Gómez, director of the Fundación Trinidad Alfonso; and María José Catalá, the Mayor of Valencia.
This new pitch, opened in record time, replaces the old facilities located just 500 metres away in this area to the south of Valencia, which were completely devastated last October due to the flooding. Thus, from today, the boys and girls of Discóbolo La Torre AC have returned to training in these new facilities, located in a non-flood zone, in the vicinity of Calle Ignacio Hernández Hervás.
In total, there are five fields that will be rehabilitated in the first instance by means of a donation from Villarreal CF. After the restoration of the pitch in La Torre, the pitches in Beniparrell, Catarroja, Aldaia and Algemesí will be restored in the next few weeks, and will be fully playable again in March.
In fact, in Beniparrell, the specialised cleaning work will be completed this week, and in Las Encrucijadas, next week. The first phase of the plan will conclude with work at the municipal football pitch in Catarroja and the Joan Girbés sports centre in Algemesí. In both cases, both the turf and the equipment will be reinstalled.
Alcem-se Esport
After the flooding, more than 350 sports clubs of all disciplines need support to resume their activity with some degree of normality. To the plan presented by the Fundación Trinidad Alfonso and Valencia Basket, which amounted to four million euros, Villarreal CF decided to make a contribution of two million euros.
