Villarreal B get their fourth win in a row after beating Atlético de Madrid B with a goal from Luis Quintero and an Etta Eyong brace
Villarreal B had a big challenge ahead of them at the Mini Estadi, but Miguel Álvarez’s side, who went into the match on the back of three consecutive wins, wanted to continue their good run. However, this time it wasn’t going to be easy, as they came up against Atlético de Madrid’s B team.
The match started badly for the Yellows. The away side took the lead in the sixth minute, when Niño fired home (0-1). A blow for the home side, but they dug in. They started to feel more comfortable on the pitch, and took control of possession. Their hard work paid off in the 29th minute when a long-range Luis Quintero effort flew into the back of the net (1-1).
Just before half-time, Etta Eyong showed glimpses of what he can do, with his dangerous run being stopped by a clear foul. In the second half, he stepped up.
In the 48th minute, his effort was stopped by the away goalkeeper. But in the 64th minute, he put the Mini Submarine ahead at the MIni Estadi. When the ball fell to him in the box, his powerful effort hit the bar and flew into the back of the net (2-1). Only 15 minutes later, he found the back of the net once more (3-1, m.79). The impressive performance by Iker Álvarez and a solid defence stopped Fernando Torres’ side from creating too much danger. They managed to pull one back in the 89th minute through Rayane (3-2), but they had no more time to react, and Villarreal B got the three points to get their fourth win in a row.
