Villarreal B secured a valuable win by scoring twice in the opening stages of a rain-soaked encounter
Villarreal B beat Marbella FC (0-2) thanks to the forcefulness and accuracy they showed in the first few minutes of the match. A goal from Slavy and another from Hugo Pérez gave the Yellows the win at the Banús Football Center, on a pitch that was almost unplayable due to the incessant rain that lashed down during the match.
In the first chance of the match, Slavy made it 0-1. The forward got on the end of a lay-off from Arnau Solà on the edge of the area and did not miss, beating the home goalkeeper.
If taking an early lead was important, making it 0-2 practically sentenced the game due to the state of the pitch. Just before the quarter of an hour mark, Hugo Pérez finished off a masterful set piece. Joseda flicked the ball on for Víctor Valverde, who passed it to the centre-back to score the second goal almost on the goal line.
As the minutes went by, the rain was getting heavier and heavier, which prevented the ball from circulating on the pitch at the Banús Football Center. Long balls and strategic plays were the only actions that were dangerous. While both teams struggled to gain metres on an impracticable pitch, the minutes passed and Miguel Álvarez’s side turned the goals they scored in the early stages of the game, when there was still a chance to play some football, into gold.
In the second half, Villarreal B controlled the game well on a pitch that did not improve enough to see great football, even though the sun came out after the break.
