Miguel Álvarez’s side win convincingly thanks to goals from Víctor Valverde, Etta Eyong and Facu Viveros
Villarreal B dominated the game without too many complications. Miguel Álvarez’s men, after a quiet first half, controlled the pace of the game and were able to take advantage of the pockets of space left by their opponents to claim three very important points thanks to goals from Víctor Valverde, Etta Eyong and Facu Viveros.
The first half went by with virtually no chances for either team. It was 45 minutes of tentative play, of trying to wear down the opposition and of maximum equality.
The Mini Submarine had three chances, although all of them without luck in front of goal. Requena had the first, Joseda the second and Slavy the third. And although offensively they were unable to complete those moves, defensively they were not too physically exhausted, as Mérida only came dangerously close once with a shot from Paul Benet (0-0, min. 45).
After the break, Miguel Álvarez’s side dominated completely, impressing all the fans present at the Mini Estadi. In fact, Víctor Valverde threatened in the 47th minute and Etta Eyong had a clear one-on-one in the 50th minute. Just five minutes later, they made no mistake. In fact, it was the striker who was on his way down the right flank, who fed Slavy. Slavy’s shot was deflected by the goalkeeper and it was Víctor Valverde who took advantage of the rebound to send the ball into the back of the net (1-0, min. 55).
Near the end of the game, between the 83rd and 86th minute, madness broke out. First came Etta Eyong’s goal (2-0) after a pass from Quintero, who broke free on the right flank, and then came Facu Viveros’ goal, who scored almost as soon as he entered the field of play, to make it 3-0.
