Villarreal Women head coach Virginia García expects a tough match against CD Alba Fundación (Saturday, 6pm CET)
Villarreal Women head coach, Virginia García, has analyzed the clash against CD Alba Fundación (Saturday, 6pm CET).
This is what she had to say:
A deserved win against Sporting Club de Huelva
“It was a hard-fought victory, but very important, because we hadn’t competed for a long time and I think we struggled at times to find that rhythm, that courage and that confidence. It was tough because of the opposition’s needs, but the team recovered very well from the adverse result, turned the scoreline around and we’re happy with the result, and happy to continue adding to our tally and stay up there.”
Strengthened after the win
“We’re getting better and better, with more rhythm and we’ve also recovered players who weren’t able to play with us in Huelva. Right now we only have Alexia Jr. out, so we are reinforced and happy with the week the team has had. At the end of the day, when you come off the back of a win, the weeks tend to be much easier and with more joy. We’re working hard and well ahead of tomorrow’s game and we’re confident that we’re doing things right.”
Difficult match against CD Alba Fundación
“It’s a difficult match. For me, CD Alba Fundación have one of the best squads in the league and they’re going to be a team that’s going to be up there for sure at the end of the season. It’s going to be a tough match, a difficult match and, in the end, it motivates us too, because we’re a bit like that team in the standings that everyone wants to beat us. We have to believe in ourselves, in our work and in our players. It’s going to be a beautiful game, which motivates us and we have the challenge of getting this victory.”
Opposition analysis
“CD Alba Fundación’s squad is a squad with a lot of experience, both in Primera RFEF and in Liga F. It’s a squad that mixes veterans, with many games already played, and also has youth. They are a team that likes to handle the ball very well, so I think we’re both going to fight for possession, and I think they also defend very well, with few goals conceded and very close results. They’re going to demand one hundred per cent from us. It’s going to be a game that’s going to come down to details and we want those details to go our way. It will be a difficult game, but we’re prepared to face it in the best way possible.”
