An electric attacking duo in Arana and Jackson
The attacking nature of Álvarez’s side is one of its biggest strengths. Juan Carlos Arana and Nicolás Jackson are working perfectly together up front, with a lot of movement and they look dangerous in spaces. The Canarian striker has scored twice, while his Senegalese team-mate has one.
Creation, getting in the box and balance

The players in the middle of the pitch are performing well, with a number of midfielders even finding the back of the net in this league start. In the opening four games, Carlo Adriano, Sergio Lozano, Antonio Pacheco and Nikita Iosifov have all scored.
With a lot of players impressive in terms of creation, the Mini Submarine have found a magnificent defensive player in Alberto del Moral. The midfielder brings a balance to the team which stands out for its talent in the middle of the pitch.
Being solid and convincing in the heart of defence
The defensive partnership of Adrián de la Fuenta and Pablo Íñiguez offers security and guarantees for the Mini Submarine. The Yellows concede very few chances and the Yellows have only conceded once in four games.
Inspiring confidence between the sticks
In goal, Miguel Álvarez has trusted Iker Álvarez and Gianni for the first few Villarreal B games in league. The Andorran goalkeeper has only conceded one goal in three games, and also stopped a penalty against CD San Fernando. When Iker was with his national team, Miguel Álvarez trusted Gianni in goal, and he came in and kept a clean sheet against UE Cornellà.
Miguel Álvarez’s experience
In his fifth season with the Mini Submarine, Miguel Álvarez has got a new cohort of young talents and has made them into a team capable of competing with the best sides in the newly-formed Primera RFEF division.
After going so close to promotion to Segunda División in his first season, and reaching the promotion play-offs on numerous other occasions, the coach oversaw his side’s promotion to Primera RFEF last season. This great start to the season, and Villarreal B’s quick adaptation to the new league, has become yet another impressive moment of Miguel Álvarez’s time with the Yellows.
