The Yellows are the team that have completed the most passes in the first nine LaLiga games (4912)

Villarreal are one of the teams to have taken most control of the play so far this LaLiga season. Unai Emery’s side are the team to have completed the highest amount of passes after the first nine matchdays of the league campaign (4912).

In the matches at the Estadio de la Cerámica, the Yellows have 60.7% of possession on average, only beaten by Sevilla FC and Real Madrid. Away from home, the number reduces to 55.4%, with an average over home and away of 58%. The game with the highest amount of possession was against Cádiz CF, when the Yellows had an impressive 76.5% of possession, leaving their opponents with just 23.5%.

Precision and a high number of passes

A number of Yellows are in the top five players to have made the most passes in LaLiga. Pau Torres is top with 606, Raúl Albiol is second with 557 and Dani Parejo is fourth with 531.

The quality of the footballers isn’t only reflected in the number of passes they have made, but also in their spectacular pass completion rate.

Vicente Iborra has an impressive pass completion rate of 90.7%, the fourth-highest in the league, and the second-highest midfielder, after Toni Kroos (92.62%). In the top 50 players with the best pass completion rate in LaLiga, as well as the Valencian midfielder, there are a number of Yellows: Dani Parejo (tenth with 89.83%), Raúl Albiol (15th with 88.51%), Pau Torres (18th with 87.79%), Manu Trigueros (19th, 87.26%), Moi Gómez (26th, 86.42%) and Mario Gaspar (35th, 84.33%).
