Sara Monforte’s side beat Real Betis in the last game of the season at Miralcamp
Las Groguetes beat Real Betis Balompié Féminas 2-0 with a brace from a superlative Salma Paralluelo, who replaced Belén at half-time to give Villarreal Women the win in their final home game of the season and establish themselves in the top flight of Spanish football.
Villarreal Women were under no pressure after securing their mathematical salvation, but pressed Real Betis high up the pitch. Belén created the two best chances of the first half with shots from the edge of the area that went just wide of the post. The striker from Extremadura was very electric in attack looking for space and formed a good partnership with Sheila, who was more of a static player when receiving the ball. For their part, the Green and Whites could have scored on the stroke of half-time with a long-range shot that struck the crossbar.
In the first action of the second half, Salma Paralluelo, who had replaced Belén, showed her presence in the attacking quarter, receiving the ball in space and finding herself alone in front of the opposing goalkeeper, despite being in an illegal position. The Huesca striker also had the first goal in sight with a free kick that went just wide of Perez’s corner.
It was Salma who opened the scoring and then increased the lead. The first goal was her own creation on the counter-attack until she was left alone in front of the Green and Whites’ goalkeeper and beat her at her own accord. A few minutes later, she converted her own penalty, also on the counter-attack.
In this way, Villarreal Women won their last home game of the season and Salma was left smiling again in the Primera Iberdrola with this blow on the table.
