A very special competition at the Corner Sports Bar del Poble gives free rein to the creativity of the fans with a VIP judging panel made up of Rubén Santos, Asier Manzanos, Marcos Senna, Kiko Femenía and Marta Querol
Corner Sports Bar Del Poble, one of the restaurants located inside the Estadio de la Cerámica (access via Gate 29), launched a very special culinary initiative last October. Through a competition on their social networks, they invited fans to share their dream pizza toppings. After a selection of a whole host of proposals, the finalists would have to present their creations in a grand final. The winning pizza would become part of the menu, temporarily, of the Corner Sports Bar Del Poble under the name of ‘La Pizza de l’Afició’.
The Corner Sports Bar Del Poble was the setting for the grand final, which brought together a luxury judging panel made up of Rubén Santos, Del Poble Pizzería CEO; Asier Manzanos, Restaurante El Vasco; Marcos Senna, Villarreal CF ambassador; Kiko Femenía, Villarreal CF player; and Marta Querol, Villarreal Women’s player.
The finalists Sara Martín, Mónica Cortijo, Fran Salvador and Luciana Pérez prepared their proposals full of creativity and passion, combining innovative and tasty ingredients and flavours. After the cooking, each of them had the opportunity to present their creation to the judges.
After a close vote, Mónica Cortijo’s pizza was chosen as the winner. Mónica’s pizza will be the star of the Corner Sports Bar Del Poble during the month of December, under the name of ‘La Pizza de l’Afició’ (The Fans’ Pizza). Her dish has a tomato base, mozzarella cheese, pulled pork, crispy bacon and caramelised onions.
As a reward for their efforts, all the finalists were finally awarded for their creativity. Over the next few months, each of them will see their pizza on the restaurant’s menu. Also, as part of their prize, all the finalists will enjoy an exclusive experience, as they will be able to watch a Villarreal CF match from a box, courtesy of Corner Sports Bar Del Poble.

December: tomato, mozzarella cheese, pulled pork, crispy bacon and caramelised onions.
January: tomato, mozzarella cheese, semi-cured manchego cheese, chorizo criollo and chimichurri.
February: mozzarella cheese, gorgonzola cheese, Iberian ham, pears, honey, rocket and walnuts.
March: tomato, mozzarella cheese, ham, egg and artichokes.
