Villarreal B turn around the score but Intercity get a point late on
Villarreal B drew with Intercity (2-2). The Yellows conceded early on, but recovered from the setback and subdued the Alicante side to turn the score around with goals from Luis Quintero in the first half and Etta Eyong in the second. The home side, on the other hand, did not give up and managed to rescue a point at home with Locadia’s second goal in the closing stages.
Miguel Alvarez’s side went 1-0 down early on. Locadia’s anticipation of Borja Martinez’s cross from the right was the first goal of the game.
Despite the blow in the form of a goal, the Yellows did not give up and looked for the rival goal to equalise. In the 17th minute, Etta Eyong had a chance, but she failed to finish from a counter-attacking move. Ten minutes later, the Mini Submarine had another chance with a double chance for Diatta and Víctor Moreno. The Senegalese midfielder shot from distance and Víctor tried his luck with the rebound. Both shots were well saved by Samu Casado, the home keeper.
On the half hour mark, Víctor came close to equalising with a clear chance that was saved almost under the post by a home defender. And the next time, it was time for the winner. Quintero made it 1-1 with a long-range shot that ricocheted off an opponent and into the net.
After a first half in which the Groguets were noticeably superior to their opponents, the start of the second half offered little in the way of chances. It was not until the 70th minute when Etta Eyong made it 1-2 at the Antonio Solana. The Cameroonian took advantage of an excellent long pass from Hugo to score his tenth goal of the season.
The joy, however, did not last long for the Yellows, who conceded just ten minutes later to make it 2-2. Once again Locadia slipped between the centre-backs to send a low cross from the left into the net from Iker.
In the final minutes, the Mini Submarine had several chances to score the third, but lacked the finishing touches to get more than a point in Alicante.
