Villarreal youngsters take part in an fun in-house healthy breakfast competition
It’s not MasterChef, but it’s not far from it! The young players from Villarreal’s U16s to U13s sides (Cadete to Infantil) have been taking part during lockdown in a fun, healthy competition by making nutritional breakfasts. It was an idea that the coaching staff had alongside the Yellows Academy nutritionist Miguel Pérez, aiming to help the youngsters realise the importance of a healthy diet from the first meal of the day. All of this, under the blessing of Villarreal CF head of nutrition Héctor Usó.
The youngsters each day make a breakfast from five ingredients given to them by nutritionist Miguel Pérez. From there, they can let their imagination run wild. There are some who elaborate more, and some less, but everyone wins by starting the day in the best way possible.
When their breakfast is ready, the young Yellows have to take a photo and upload it to the drive they have with their coaching staff and the club’s nutritionist. They rate each one of them, creating a ranking. The ones at the bottom of the table have to complete a series of ‘punishments’.
