The Yellows youth outfit will start the competition this Wednesday against Swansea City (8pm CEST)
Villarreal U23 will begin this Wednesday their fifth participation in the Premier League International Cup. Their opponents will be Swansea City, at 8pm in Spain (7pm local time at Landore Training Ground).
Miguel Álvarez’s outfit will participate in the tournament hoping to get as far as possible. It is worth mentioning that in the 2015/16 season, the Yellows U23s were able to win the competition, after beating PSV Eindhoven 4-2 in the final.
The aim of the Premier League International Cup, which takes place entirely in England and Wales, is to encourage and improve youth football. The competition is made up of 24 teams, 12 British sides and 12 other invited clubs from across Europe, who have history of a strong academy.
This time, the Yellows U23 side has been drawn in Group E of the competition, alongside Liverpool, Swansea City and Hertha Berlin.
The players named in the squad are the following:
- Goalkeepers: Joan Femenías, Diego Fuoli.
- Defenders: Andrei, Pepe Castaño, Roger Riera, Carlos Blanco, Enrica Franquesa, Quintillà.
- Midfielders: Iván Martín, Pedrito, Beitia, Fran Álvarez, Adrián Riera, Akale, Lozano.
- Forwards: Villa, Mario González, Nikola Vujnovic.
Travel plan
The Yellows expedition will leave this lunchtime from Alicante Airport (2:15pm CEST), heading for Cardiff. Once there, the party will stay in the Hotel Vale Resort in Hensol. The return trip is planned for Thursday afternoon, with arrival at Alicante at approximately 4:15pm CEST.

- Group A: Southampton, West Ham United, Porto, Dinamo Zagreb.
- Group B: Leicester City, Reading, Sparta Prague, Feyenoord.
- Group C: Norwich City, Tottenham Hotspur, Athletic Club Bilbao, Wolfsburg.

- Group E: Liverpool, Swansea City, Hertha Berlin, Villarreal B.
- Group F: Derby County, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, PSV Eindhoven.
