Six players say farewell to Villarreal Women

Elena de Toro, Pancha Lara, Claudia Iglesias, María Llompart, Fatou Kanteh and Thaís Reiss have left the club

A total of six players have cureently left Villarreal CF Women: Elena de Toro, Pancha Lara, Claudia Iglesias, María Llompart, Fatou Kanteh and Thaís Reiss.

Elena de Toro bids farewell to Villarreal after playing a total of 69 games in four seasons (one campaign in Reto Iberdrola and three in the top flight). The goalkeeper from Bolaños de Calatrava was a very important part of the promotion to the top flight achieved in the 2020/21 season, appearing in 23 of the 24 possible matches. It is also worth noting that the team was the team that conceded the fewest goals in the league. In Villarreal Women’s three seasons in the top flight, the goalkeeper made 44 appearances and took part in two Copa de la Reina matches.

Chilean defender Pancha Lara, after having contributed her experience, versatility and great quality on the pitch during the three seasons in which the club has remained in the top flight of Spanish women’s football, also leaves the yellow club with 66 games under her belt (63 in the league and three in the Copa de la Reina), scoring two goals.

María Llompart, meanwhile, leaves after two seasons wearing the yellow shirt. The Catalan has been a permanent fixture on the pitch, playing a total of 56 of the 60 possible matches in Liga F, scoring five goals. She also played four matches in the Copa de la Reina.

Similarly, Claudia Iglesias also ends her time at Villarreal CF after two years at the club. The young midfielder from Madrid played a total of 48 games (46 in the league and two in the Copa de la Reina) in which she scored six goals, five of them in the 2023/24 season, making her the team’s second top scorer.

Fatou Kanteh also leaves the club after two seasons. The Catalan striker scored a total of eight goals in 61 league and cup games.

Thaís Reiss, who joined the club in the winter transfer window, also leaves the club after 11 games played and one goal scored in the penultimate league game of the season against Sporting Club de Huelva.
