Miguel Álvarez has underlined the need to take control of the small details to beat Marbella
Villarreal B head coach, Miguel Álvarez, appeared before the media this Friday to analyse the match against Marbella FC, corresponding to Matchday 27 of the 2024/25 Primera RFEF season, which will be played this Sunday, at 12pm CET, at the Banús Football Center.
An even league
“It’s obvious that we have a lot of draws. There isn’t much difference between the teams. The small details are not going our way. We could have won more games, but in the division, there’s always a lot of equality.”
A match worth more than three points
“We’re falling short, because we can’t manage to string together victories. We are looking down, because it’s a very even league. Now we’re playing matches against opponents who are fighting for the same thing as us. These are matches worth more than three points. The lads are aware that we have to compete at a high level and put a stop to those little details that are penalising us.”
Showing personality against Marbella
“The second half of the season is always different. Teams get stronger. Many teams have changed their head coach. From now on, the games become more complicated. It’s pure survival in terms of points. We’ll find hostile atmospheres and fans who will be very demanding. We have to have personality and pull through. At least give it our all. It’s an important match against a rival where there is little difference.”
Being without Etta Eyong
“We don’t like to lose someone as important as Etta Eyong, but once we know we won’t have him, he’s no longer important. We were one man down for a long time against one of the best teams in this league. He is a key player for us. But it’s also true that there have been more times when we’ve played without him and there will be team-mates who will have to step up to take his place.”
